This past Wednesday Art Club hosted this years first art workshop! Members learned about the decorative clay technique called Sgraffito. Sgraffito is a decorating pottery technique achieved by applying layers of color (underglaze) to leather hard clay and then scratching off parts of the underglaze to create a contrasting image, pattern, or texture revealing the clay color underneath. For this workshop members created sets of coasters using this intricate technique.
